LISD is celebrating Custodian Appreciation Week, Sept. 5-9. Approximately 200 employees serve LISD as part of the district’s custodial staff team. They clean more than 6 million square feet of space each day, including the district’s 25 elementary schools, eight middle schools and six high schools, in addition to the administration, technology and support department buildings.
Many of LISD’s custodial staff members are parents, aunts and uncles and grandparents of LISD students, and they keep students as the primary focus of their work. These hardworking professionals take pride in providing clean and safe places for all students to learn.
With shifts ranging between 6 a.m. and midnight, they are at work before staff and students arrive in the morning, and they stay long after everyone leaves each day. They are always present.
On behalf of LISD, we say thank you to our fantastic custodial staff.
