A Vista Ridge High School junior, armed with her newly-learned skills and her sewing machine, is helping fight the spread of COVID-19. Leander ISD’s Career & Technical Education (CTE) Student of the Week Gisele Nelson exemplifies what it means to not just learn, but create!
As an Intro to Fashion Design student, Gisele didn’t just settle on learning the basics of the fashion industry and construction. She completed all of her assignments and then some, launching her skills far beyond a beginner level.
Since developing that expertise, Gisele, along with her mother, chose to put those smarts to work. They’re gearing up essential workers by making masks, helping protect them amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Gisele is a wonderful example and mentor to her classmates as well,” Vista Ridge High School Family Consumer Science teacher Amy Kranz said.
For her weapons of “mask” construction, we’re so proud of our LISD CTE Student of the Week Gisele Nelson! Congratulations!
