Some students instantly come to mind as a superb student. Take Vandegrift High School senior Anish Pandya. For his drive and ingenuity, we’re highlighting Anish Pandya as Leander ISD Career and Technical Education (CTE) Student of the Week.

As a Project Lead the Way student, Anish applies STEM skills to solve real-world problems. The program encourages students to think creatively, work collaboratively and communicate effectively.

“I already knew that Anish was an ambitious and talented student even before he entered my classroom,” program coordinator John Schocken said.

A reputation that preceded him. Anish tried to get a genetic engineering team assembled for an iGEM competition. Unfortunately, COVID-19 cut it short. Despite the setback, Anish continued to find opportunities to lead. Over the summer, he participated in summer research at Universities. He serves as an officer for Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA). Through exemplary academics, Anish sets a bar of excellence. His future plans include his desire to open a science journal club at Vandegrift.

“Anish is dedicated to and shows a real passion for biomedical science by his actions and his participation in class,” Schocken said. “His engagement with scientific content has resulted in a remarkable ability to communicate professionally about scientific work.  A medical career, be it research or otherwise, will be bright for him!”

We’re thrilled to see how Anish’s achievements will impact #1LISD and beyond. Congratulations, Anish!
