No business like Avani’s business! Leander ISD Career and Technical Education (CTE) Student of the Week Avani Singh’s drive takes her over the top.
Avani joined Vandegrift High School’s DECA team as a freshman. Along with the team, she advanced to national competition. Her commitment to business and DECA rose this school year. Now a sophomore, Avani took full advantage of Texas DECA’s Fall Case Study Challenge, competing in several events. Texas DECA held a “Winner’s Week” in November, announcing case study winners each day. Avani placed in the Top 10 in Restaurant. The following day, she placed third in Finance.
That’s not all! Avani is taking the Business Information Management course, in which she earned her Word 2019 Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification. This achievement amounts to 150 hours of instruction, hands-on experience and the ability to seamlessly enter an entry-level position using this skill.
“I am so proud of Avani’s accomplishments this year!” VHS DECA advisor Kari Michalek said. “Her achievements in Texas DECA’s Case Study Challenges are especially worth recognizing.”
Not only is Avani involved in DECA, she is also a member of the Vandegrift Band.
