In an effort to better accommodate those attending our scheduled Board meetings, items requiring discussion in closed session as required by law will be moved to the end of our meeting beginning Dec. 12. This change is designed to allow recognition, celebrations, and citizens’ comments to begin sooner, which we believe to be more respectful of our community members’ time.

Citizens’ comments will normally be held after the call to order, Pledge of Allegiance and recognitions. A person wishing to address the Board shall sign up prior to the beginning of the meeting. On the day of the meeting, the sign-up sheets for Citizen Comments will be available at the meeting location. Each citizen must sign up in person, between 5:30 and 6:15 p.m., prior to the start of the meeting.

Additionally, beginning in January, the Board will conduct an “Agenda Review Meeting” followed the next week with a “Decision Making Meeting.” These will generally, but not always, be held on the third and fourth Thursdays of the month. It is our intent that this new format will enable more open and robust discussion and collaboration on topics being considered by the Board of Trustees. We are making these changes to improve transparency and in keeping with our focus on continuous improvement.

Please refer to the Leander ISD website for specific dates and further details on this new meeting format.

As always, we appreciate the community’s support and continued input on matters related to providing the best possible education for our students.
