Balancing AP classes, leadership roles, and club commitments, Cedar Park High School junior Calista Davis still found time to achieve something extraordinary: a perfect score of 36 on the ACT.

“I used free online practice tests to study,” Davis said. “I started taking those practice tests about a week before the real test so I had time to identify what I needed to work on.”

For Davis, practice truly made perfect. Her top score places her among less than one percent of test takers nationwide.

As one of two captains of Cedar Park High School’s UIL Science team and an active member of several honor societies, Davis explains that learning to manage her time has been key to her success, both in the classroom and on standardized tests. “My classes helped me learn test-taking strategies,” Davis said. “A large part of standardized testing is knowing how to eliminate answers and pace yourself, so my classes have given me a lot of practice in that area.”

Looking ahead, Davis hopes to major in psychology at a four-year university before attending graduate school. Her top choices include the University of Wisconsin–Madison and the University of Maryland.

Leander ISD celebrates Calista’s remarkable accomplishment and the dedication it represents: a shining example of hard work paying off.
