We want to take care of our students when our buildings are closed through April 5. Foodservice is a key component of our support to students as we work during the global, coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). We want to provide you with information about a change to our foodservice plans so you and your family can plan.
Thanks to a change by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA), we are adjusting our schedule for food distribution to make things easier for students and families.
Starting Tuesday, March 24, our Monday through Friday breakfast and lunch food distribution will be available at one time. Students will be able to pick up a hot lunch and a breakfast meal for the next morning during this one-stop, curbside or drive-thru pick-up.
From 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., any student can visit one of four locations to pick up their two meals. The locations are:
- Bagdad Elementary School,
- Reed Elementary School,
- River Place Elementary School, and
- Running Brushy Middle School.
To receive food, we will not require proof of enrollment. TDA guidelines do require a student to be present to pick-up food.
We are working with our amazing community partners who help supply families with food backpacks on weekends to support their efforts. We will have more details on those options in an update later this week.
You can help us plan and avoid food waste by using the Nutrislice website, or mobile app (Apple, Google) if you plan to get a meal. Nutrislice allows us to plan our service by asking parents or students to let us know if they will be receiving their meals from us. You are not required to use Nutrislice in order to get a meal.
In addition, we are excited to partner with Williamson County during the closure to provide meals at their daycare facility for county employees and first responders, who are supporting our community during this crisis.
