Leander ISD students, parents and teachers traveled to the state capitol Monday, Feb. 27, for Texas PTA Rally Day, an opportunity to demonstrate support for public education and work to enact positive change.
In the morning, students gathered for a student caucus where they discussed legislative priorities and items of interest. They then headed to rally on the steps of the capitol, where they heard from PTA leaders and proponents of public education.
After lunch, students met with local legislators including Rep. John Bucy III, Rep. Caroline Harris, Sen. Charles Schwertner and Rep. Vikki Goodwin, who shared current legislative priorities and answered questions from students.
