Vista Ridge High School’s Carly Klein is the state champion of the Hair & Makeup Design category at this year’s UIL Theatrical Design Competition! Rouse High School’s group made up of Sahithi Myana, Erin Leach, Devon Masterson and Savannah DeVille received the SILVER medal for their entry in the Group Design Category, and Rouse’s Darbi Shawhan placed 6th in the Costume Design category of the competition.

Before the theater curtain rises, a lot of creative work takes place aside from memorizing lines and learning choreography. The sets! The costumes! The hair and makeup! The marketing that brings an audience out to see the show!

The UIL Theatrical Design Competition gives students an opportunity to showcase their creativity by building their own unique world around a theatrical production—this year, Hadestown.

Congratulations to these top-notch creatives!
