During the month of November, we asked staff who served in the military to tell us more about their life before working in Leander ISD. We are proud to feature these brave men and women who put the welfare of our country above their own. On Veterans Day 2021, we want to offer our gratitude and appreciation for their service. For your bravery and sacrifice, we salute you.

Did you know that we have three Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFWs) in Williamson County? The VFW is an amazing resource for our veterans. The Leander VFW 10427 offers assistance with filing VA claims, events such as a monthly steak night, and a PTSD support group for veterans and their families every Wednesday at 7 p.m. The VFW welcomes local community members as well, always on the lookout for volunteers to support their events.

“Our VFW 10427 has been in Leander for 20 years,” said Director of Governmental and Public Affairs Mitch Fuller. “We want to be a resource to our veterans, their families and our community.”

Check out their webpage or Facebook page for upcoming events and ways you can help!

There are a variety of discounts and opportunities in our community for our veterans. Thank you for keeping our country safe and providing the freedoms we all enjoy!
