Trustees established a timeline for its Superintendent search to replace Dan Troxell, Ph.D., with the direction to have a new Leander ISD leader before the start of the 2019-2020 school year.

The Leander ISD Board of Trustees met with Thompson & Horton, the Superintendent search firm, during a special-called meeting on May 8. Trustees discussed the timeline and the process for hiring.

As part of the national search, the Board intends to hold focus groups and survey the community to help identify a candidate profile. The Board plans to name a lone finalist in July to have a new superintendent for the start of the 2019–2020 school year.

At the upcoming May 16 Board meeting, Trustees will discuss and deliberate the superintendent search process, superintendent contract and superintendent resignation.

On April 26, Troxell announced his acceptance of a position as deputy executive director for the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB).
