Teaching and learning isn’t the only thing in LISD that’s gone virtual; evaluating and hiring job candidates has, too!

Just as Leander ISD was firing up the engine on hiring season, it stalled out due to the COVID-19 health crisis. How could recruiters host job fairs without the crucial element of human contact? District human resources staff are meeting the challenge head-on with the LISD Virtual Teacher Job Fair.

“We are committed to finding a way to provide another option to recruit the highest quality teachers to our district,” LISD Chief Human Resources Officer Karie Lynn McSpadden said. “We are very excited to be able to provide a virtual job fair through FlipGrid.”

FlipGrid provides candidates a platform to create a video response to what makes them a heroic educator. The tool not only promotes social distancing, it also offers convenience and flexibility for the candidate while giving recruiters the chance to acquaint themselves with candidates in a way that resumes and cover letters can’t match. In addition, candidates can post their video in response to job openings and multiple campuses, increasing the chance of finding the right fit.
