At the LISD Board Meeting Thursday, Sept. 2, 2016, LISD Fine Arts Director Peter Warshaw was recognized for receiving the 2016 Lifetime Administrator Achievement Award from the Texas Bandmasters Association. Each year, TBA recognizes those who have made a difference in the lives of band students in Texas.
Under his leadership, Leander ISD fine arts programs annually present districtwide events showcasing the work of student artists and performers, like the upcoming Festival of Bands and Choral Showcase. LISD schools have swept the state marching competition two years in a row. And LISD groups have performed at prestigious state and national conventions, including TMEA, the Cambiata Institute of America and The Midwest Clinic. Prior to coming to LISD, Mr. Warshaw served as the Coordinator of Fine Arts in Bryan ISD and the Director of Bands at J.J. Pearce High School in Richardson. During his tenure at Pearce, the band performed twice by invitation in Carnegie Hall, was awarded the Sudler Flag of Honor in 2000, and was selected as the TMEA Class 4A Honor Band in 2001.
