Leander ISD proudly recognizes our amazing librarians during National Library Week from April 7-11. We are thankful for their contributions to student achievement and for creating an environment where each student can imagine possibilities, explore opportunities, and connect with the future and the world.
βIn Leander ISD, our school librarians are teachers, innovative tech leaders, and research mentors who empower learners to think critically as they explore the world they live in,β said Becky Calzada, LISD district library coordinator. βSchool librarians serve all learners in robust spaces where voluntary inquiry thrives, opportunities to think critically are fostered, and where connection with others can flourish.”
Since the start of the 2025-26 school year, 461,634 physical books have been checked out across all Leander ISD libraries. In addition, 144,512 digital eBooks and audiobooks have been checked out.
Besides having print and digital books, every library has a 3D printer for students to design, create, and print projects. Each campus library is a busy space, serving as a classroom where librarians teach a variety of lessons on digital citizenship and information literacy, share makerspace design challenges, and promote a lifelong love of reading by recommending books, hosting book clubs, and facilitating opportunities for students to share books with each other.
