In a unique role reversal, 14 employers attended Leander ISD’s first-ever Vocational Services Reverse Job Fair, where students with disabilities showcased their employability skills during on-the-spot interviews.

The job fair was held on March 10 at the LEO Conference Center and was made possible by a LEEF grant. Each of the 26 student participants representing every traditional high school in the district had their own table and trifold presentation in which they showcased their qualifications. β€œThe goal of this fair is for our students to get hired,” Denise Geiger, LISD sr. transition coordinator said. β€œWe were very pleased to hear from employers that attended the fair that the accomplishments of our talented students inspired them and that they would love to hire them all.”

Thanks to the success of the event, the Leander ISD Vocational Services team hopes to host another reverse job fair in the future. β€œThe student and staff preparation for this event helped students promote self-awareness, student ownership, independence and set future employment goals,” said Justin Pine, 18+ transition services coordinator. β€œThis event will have a positive, lasting impact on student outcomes.”
