This year has been challenging for us all, especially our amazing teachers. Leander ISD is constantly looking for ways to support our educators, particularly when they need to be out of the classroom for professional learning or family responsibilities.

In hopes of increasing the district’s pool of substitute teachers, LISD is partnering with ESS, a substitute staffing company that shares our vision of creating a safe, positive learning environment for all of our students. “We believe this partnership will bring great value to our substitute program in support of our staff when they are out of the classroom,” said Karie Lynn McSpadden, LISD’s Chief Human Resources Officer. “We know that subs are in great demand during this time and we are looking forward to working together with ESS to find amazing substitute teachers who have a passion for teaching and caring for our students.”

Through this partnership with ESS, LISD substitute teachers will receive:

  • Comparable pay
  • Insurance and benefits
  • Resources and training programs
  • Incentives

ESS will recruit, screen, train, hire and manage applicants interested in becoming part or full-time substitutes in LISD. In addition to placing substitutes in needed positions, the company will provide an online substitute management program that allows full-time teachers and staff to log their absences electronically. Those absences are then immediately visible to the substitutes interested in accepting the vacant positions.  ESS complies with state-mandated requirements regarding the credentials needed to work in public schools.
