We are working to transform learning experiences for our sixth through 12th-grade students so that all students are afforded every available option to perform well in their classes and ultimately graduate. The Leander ISD Mobile Learning Initiative (mLISD) will support the vision outlined in our Graduate Profile that “Leander ISD students are well-prepared to enrich our world and excel in a global society” and that “each student is challenged, encouraged, and supported to achieve the highest level of knowledge, skills and character” in a digital world.
Our goal is to provide students with increased access to digital content, resources and devices to support learning anytime, anywhere. The mLISD program has been specifically created to make the best use of our resources in order to support student engagement in learning.
Note for elementary school parents: mLISD is available for our students grade 6-12. The district is providing Chromebooks for elementary school students in need at no charge. You can find details on Chromebook distribution here.
In order for 6–12 grade students to participate in mLISD during the 2020-21 school year, they must pay a $70 non-refundable security deposit. The deposit for students on free and reduced lunch is $35. All newly participating students including incoming sixth-grade students who pay for their fee will be issued their device at the beginning of the 2020-21 school year.
Scholarship opportunities are available. Please contact [email protected] for more information. Please include the following information in your email:

Current Participating Students
Non-refundable security deposits are paid annually. That means if your student currently has a laptop in their possession that was issued during the 2019-2020 school year, they will need to pay the fee as an mLISD participant in order to keep their device for the upcoming school year. Incoming ninth-grade students, who choose to participate, will receive a new laptop at the beginning of the 2020-21 school year.
To ensure essential updates are received providing proper performance and functionality for the coming school year, devices must be powered on and used at least one time each week. The laptop should be powered on for approximately two to three hours during this time. For additional information regarding the mLISD program click here.
