We want to learn more about what our families value in academic school calendars.
Thank you to the nearly 1,400 participants in our Thoughtexchange survey to collect feedback as we build our 2021-22 and 2022-23 school year academic calendars. We will be hosting four listening sessions on Dec. 8 and Dec. 9 to further discuss the calendars before we share drafts with our community to vote on later this month.

We learned our families value the holiday schedules of the past few calendars (one wee at Thanksgiving, two before the New Year, and one at Spring Break). We heard strong support for starting mid-August and ending in May (preferably before Memorial Day). But we still need to listen and figure out how much in-year staff development and teacher planning time makes sense.
Read this and more in our report from our Thoughtexchange.
Next Steps
After the listening sessions, we will post and share 2 or 3 draft calendars for our community to vote on before bringing a recommendation to the Board of Trustees in our January school board meetings.
