Our golden buzzer, Leander ISD Fine Arts Student of the Week Avani Rayasa’s got talent!
The Vandegrift High School junior sings with the Varsity Mixed Choir and Chamber Choir. Also an exquisite instrumentalist, Avani also plays piano. She scored 3 Texas Federation of Music Clubs (TFMC) Superior ratings. Actively involved in extracurriculars, Avani serves as a Homework Help Officer. She also participates with Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA), DECA, Student Council, and UIL Literary Criticism. In her classwork, Avani strives for excellence: an AP scholar, a PSAT National Merit qualifier, and a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, and Science National Honor Society. Furthermore, she serves in a leadership role as treasurer for Mu Alpha Theta (Mathematics Honor Society).
In 2021, Avani was named a VHS Choir Solo Contest Finalist. In the spring, she will serve as the Relay for Life leader for the Viper Choir. Recently, Avani earned a spot in the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State Treble Choir!
