At the Leander ISD Board of Trustees meeting on Thursday, Feb. 5, the Board approved Scenario B for attendance zoning beginning in the 2026–27 school year.
As previously shared, Faubion Elementary will close at the end of the 2025–26 school year, and under this approved scenario, students will transition to one of two elementary campuses: Reed Elementary or Westside Elementary.
Note: Information regarding PreK adjustments for families previously assigned to Faubion will be shared in the near future.
Why this scenario was selected
In reviewing zoning options, the district focused on two priorities: aligning feeder patterns for long-term continuity and responding directly to community feedback.
While survey responses reflected a range of perspectives, one theme came through clearly: families value having their child’s school preference accommodated whenever possible, particularly for current Faubion students as they complete their elementary school years. The approved plan reflects that feedback.
What comes next
Leander ISD is working closely with Faubion, Reed and Westside leadership teams to ensure campuses are prepared to welcome students and families and to support a smooth transition.
Families directly impacted by this decision will receive additional communication outlining next steps and available options in sharing the preferred school for next year. More information for the broader community will continue to be shared as planning progresses.
Thank you for your continued engagement and partnership as we plan for the future of our schools.
