Canyon Ridge Middle School performers took center stage at Texas Music Educators Association’s (TMEA) annual convention last month. While March celebrates Music in Schools Month, we’re honored to take a look at this outstanding accomplishment.
While it’s an honor for any school music program to represent Leander ISD, having two programs from one school made the moment especially exciting. CRMS Tenor/Bass Choir and Honors Band took part in something never done before.
Like so many things this year, due to COVID-19 the convention was moved to a virtual platform. Canyon Ridge MS band and choir members had to prepare for a virtual production under the direction of their respective music program directors. In its 101 years of existence, TMEA has never heard a showcase of this feat before.
“On behalf of the music directors, we are pleased to be able to share our students’ final product with you. We are so proud of our students and their perseverance through this school year,” Canyon Ridge MS choir director Courtney Kelly said.
