Review new elementary zoning scenario
We released a new elementary school attendance zoning scenario (ES28B and ES28B) as we plan for the opening of Tarvin Elementary School in August 2021 and the potential opening of ES 29 in August 2022.
The new scenario keeps Cold Springs and Hazlewood neighborhoods at Akin after community members expressed concerns over being rezoned three times in five years. Scenario 28B calls for Akin to receive enrollment relief as early as 2023 with the opening of ES 30, planned for a site near the Ranch at Brushy Creek in Cedar Park.

Changes coming to GPA, class rank calculations beginning with the Class of 2025
The Leander ISD Board of Trustees approved changes to the method used to calculate weighted GPA and the reporting of class rank beginning with the class of 2025 (students entering grade nine in the 2021–22 school year). The intent of the change is to allow students to select courses and pathways of study based on their individual interests and personal pathways of study.
