Opened in the fall of 2000, Leander ISD’s third middle school β Running Brushy Middle School β is named after the original post office for the community that eventually became what is now Cedar Park. Running Brush derived from a local spring, whose constant flow served as the all-important source of drinking water for the area’s first settlers.
The school opened to 1,100 students, which selected their school’s mascot β the Cougar β and the school colors: navy blue, silver and white.
