Long-serving Leander ISD school administrator Tom Robbins will become the new principal of Leander Middle School. The Board approved the hiring at Thursday’s meeting.
“I am thrilled to announce Tom Robbins as the next principal of Leander Middle School,” said Leander ISD superintendent, Bruce Gearing, Ed.D. “With 14 years of secondary school leadership experience, Tom brings a student-centered approach that focuses on unlocking the potential of each and every student. His engaging and visible leadership style will play a vital role in cultivating and nurturing the strong culture we value in our school communities. I am confident that under his guidance, LMS will continue to thrive and enhance our students’ educational experience.”
Robbins has served in Leander ISD since 2010, first as an assistant principal, and then as the associate principal at Leander High School. During his 14 years at Leander High School, Robbins designed and implemented systems to increase academic outcomes. He was instrumental in guiding and coaching professional learning community (PLC) teams to implement strategies from the district and campus improvement plans. Robbins built strong relationships with students, faculty, and families, as well as initiated a mentor program for at-risk students on campus. Before serving in LISD, he taught and coached sports at the middle and high school levels.
“I am deeply honored to be given the opportunity to serve as the next principal of Leander Middle School,” Robbins said. “I look forward to serving alongside our dedicated faculty and staff to support our exceptional students and community. LMS has a proud tradition of excellence, and I am excited to partner with Tiger Nation to build on this success both inside and outside of the classroom.”
Robbins completed his undergraduate studies at Texas State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science. He earned a Master of Education in educational administration from Lamar University in 2010. At the district level, Robbins has served on the PLC Coalition Planning Team, was a facilitator and planner for the Aspiring Administrator Academy (AAA), and completed the Prospective Principal Program.
