Empowering Every Learner: LIVE Celebration Shines Spotlight on Student Success
Another fantastic LIVE (Leander Independent Vocational Education) Celebration is in the books! 🎉
At the 24th annual event, we highlighted our students with disabilities who are learning the skills to work and the employers who open their doors to allow our Job Coaches and the students to come learn the valuable skills to hold and keep a job.
Leander ISD is truly for every student, and it’s amazing to see so many empowered students who are unleashing their own potential. We can’t wait to see what they will continue to accomplish in the future! 💙💛
🚀 Reagan Elementary Students Get Out-of-this-World Visit from Firefly Aerospace 🌑
Students at Reagan Elementary were over the moon during a recent visit from Firefly Aerospace. Fresh off their historic achievement as the first commercial company to successfully land on the moon, Firefly engineers shared firsthand knowledge of what it takes to accomplish such a feat. Students were even able to see real footage from the landing.
We appreciate our community partners’ efforts to help bring real-world STEM experiences into the classroom and empower this generation of learners.
Leander ISD Hosts PreK Registration Fair
On Saturday, April 5, Leander ISD welcomed some of the newest members of the #1LISD family at our PreK Registration Fair. Parents were able to enroll their children in Leander ISD and learn about district and community resources that will help support their students throughout the start of their educational journey.

Two Leander ISD teams – the Cedar Park HS girls and Vandegrift HS boys – returned from the UIL State Soccer Championships last weekend with the top prize, both holding off their opponents by 3-1 margins.
These state titles mark firsts for both schools in these programs.
A shoutout to two other #1LISD teams – the Vandegrift HS girls and the Vista Ridge HS boys – for finishing as state semifinalists. What an incredible year on the pitch.
#LISDBond Updates: Crews Prepare for Big Projects This Summer
Spring semester construction is wrapping up at Cedar Park HS, Vista Ridge HS, Leander HS and Running Brushy MS. Crews will continue doing touch-ups and new furniture will be delivered as construction teams prepare for the summer. While students are on break, contractors will tackle the biggest projects to minimize disruption.

Learning in Action: Inquiry Lab and Coping Skills at Rutledge ES
🏫 🎒 Take a visit to Rutledge ES and see two examples of how students are taking ownership of their learning: From discovering new interests in the school’s unique Inquiry Lab to identifying what healthy coping skills work for them during an interactive counseling lesson.
Superintendent Gearing’s Letter to Lawmakers: A Leap of Faith
As the Texas Legislature debates how to fund public education, Leander ISD Superintendent Bruce Gearing shares a powerful reflection on trust, teamwork and the impact of budget cuts. Despite proposed increases in funding through HB2, the district still faces a $34 million deficit, leading to the elimination of programs like the high ropes leadership course. Gearing calls on lawmakers to take a “leap of faith” — to trust local districts with flexibility and local control to make decisions that best serve their students and communities.

LEEF’s Collaborative Grant cycle is a once-a-year opportunity to request up to $5,000 for educational resources and innovative programs that benefit an entire campus, academic department, or grade level.

Congratulations to the 2025 cohort of Leander ISD’s Empowered Learning Institute! The Empowered Learning Institute (ELI) is a year-long cycle of professional learning focused on student-centered instruction and best practices in technology integration.
The ELI Celebration of Learning event held April 3 was a culminating moment for each participant as they shared their learning journey: From the risks they’ve taken to the successes they witnessed as they built their portfolio of learning throughout the year.
What a great example of #1LISD taking ownership of their learning to help students prepare themselves for anything.
Summer Professional Learning and Exchange Day Opportunities: Make Your Learning Plan
LISD offers summer professional learning to support anyone looking for ways to sharpen the saw and improve their craft over the summer. Participation is optional and choice-based, but also NEW THIS YEAR provides the opportunity to earn an “Exchange Day” for a designated professional learning day in the school year. This summer, you will find both in-person and virtual sessions of varying length and content, book studies, online courses, and more!

Los estudiantes de la escuela primaria Reagan estaban encantados durante una reciente visita de Firefly Aerospace. Tras su histórico logro como primera empresa comercial en aterrizar con éxito en la Luna, los ingenieros de Firefly compartieron de primera mano los conocimientos necesarios para llevar a cabo tal hazaña. Los estudiantes incluso pudieron ver imágenes reales del aterrizaje.
Agradecemos a nuestros socios comunitarios su ayuda para llevar experiencias STEM del mundo real al aula y empoderar a esta generación de estudiantes.
Leander ISD organiza una feria de inscripción para PreK
El sábado 5 de abril, Leander ISD dio la bienvenida a algunos de los miembros más nuevos de la familia #1LISD en nuestra Feria de Inscripción de PreK. Los padres pudieron inscribir a sus hijos en Leander ISD y conocer los recursos del distrito y la comunidad que ayudarán a apoyar a sus estudiantes durante el inicio de su trayectoria educativa.

Dos equipos de Leander ISD, el femenino de Cedar Park HS y el masculino de Vandegrift HS, regresaron el fin de semana pasado de los Campeonatos Estatales de Fútbol de la UIL con el primer premio, ambos imponiéndose a sus rivales por márgenes de 3-1.
Estos títulos estatales marcan un hito para ambas escuelas en estos programas.
Un aplauso para otros dos equipos de #1LISD, las chicas de Vandegrift HS y los chicos de Vista Ridge HS, por quedar semifinalistas estatales. ¡Qué año tan increíble en el campo!

Las obras de construcción del semestre de primavera están llegando a su fin en Cedar Park HS, Vista Ridge HS, Leander HS y Running Brushy MS. Los equipos seguirán realizando retoques y se entregará el mobiliario nuevo mientras los equipos de construcción se preparan para el verano. Mientras los estudiantes están de vacaciones, los contratistas se encargarán de los proyectos más importantes para minimizar las molestias.

Aprendizaje en acción: Laboratorio de investigación y habilidades de afrontamiento en Rutledge ES
Visite Rutledge ES y vea dos ejemplos de cómo los estudiantes asumen la responsabilidad de su aprendizaje: desde descubrir nuevos intereses en el laboratorio de investigación único de la escuela hasta identificar qué habilidades de afrontamiento saludables les funcionan durante una lección de asesoramiento interactivo.
Carta del superintendente Gearing a los legisladores: Un acto de fe
Mientras la Legislatura de Texas debate cómo financiar la educación pública, el superintendente de Leander ISD, Bruce Gearing, comparte una poderosa reflexión sobre la confianza, el trabajo en equipo y el impacto de los recortes presupuestarios. ¡Enhorabuena a la promoción de 2025 del Instituto de Aprendizaje Empoderado (ELI) de Leander ISD! El Instituto de Aprendizaje Empoderado (ELI) es un ciclo de aprendizaje profesional de un año de duración centrado en la enseñanza centrada en el alumno y las mejores prácticas en la integración de la tecnología.
El evento ELI Celebration of Learning, celebrado el 3 de abril, fue un momento culminante para todos los participantes, que compartieron su trayectoria de aprendizaje: desde los riesgos que han asumido hasta los éxitos que han logrado al crear su portfolio de aprendizaje a lo largo del año.
Qué gran ejemplo de cómo #1LISD se responsabiliza de su aprendizaje para ayudar a los estudiantes a prepararse para cualquier cosa.
Oportunidades de aprendizaje profesional e intercambio durante el verano: elabora tu plan de aprendizaje
LISD ofrece formación profesional durante el verano para ayudar a cualquier persona que busque formas de perfeccionar sus habilidades y mejorar su oficio durante el verano. La participación es opcional y voluntaria, pero además, NUEVO ESTE AÑO, ofrece la oportunidad de obtener un «día de intercambio» para un día de formación profesional designado durante el año escolar. Este verano, encontrarás sesiones presenciales y virtuales de diversa duración y contenido, estudios de libros, cursos en línea y mucho más.
