Steiner Ranch Elementary School Principal Britteny Clifford has been selected to serve as an area superintendent following approval by the Leander ISD Board of Trustees at its July 23 meeting. In this role, Clifford will support a group of campuses and work closely with principals to strengthen student learning and carry out district priorities.

“Britteny brings a proven record of instructional leadership, a deep commitment to students, and a passion for helping others reach their full potential,” said LISD Superintendent Chris Clark, Ed.D. “She has built strong relationships across our district, and I am confident she will serve our campuses and communities with excellence.”

Clifford brings two decades of experience in public education to the role of area superintendent. She has served as principal of Steiner Ranch Elementary since 2020, leading work to strengthen literacy and mathematics instruction, support collaboration among teachers and create systems that help students set goals, reflect on their learning and take greater ownership of their progress. She has also led professional learning and coaching designed to strengthen teaching across the campus.

Clifford began her career in 2006 as a classroom teacher at Steiner Ranch, where she spent 10 years creating learning experiences for students, monitoring their progress and collaborating with fellow teachers. In 2016, she became an instructional coach, helping teachers strengthen classroom instruction and use student information to guide their work. She moved into the role of assistant principal in 2018 before being named principal two years later.

Beyond her campus leadership, Clifford has served as a principal mentor and contributed to district work involving professional learning, feeder-pattern collaboration and long-range planning.

“I am honored and excited to step into the role of area superintendent in Leander ISD,” Clifford said. “My time as a campus administrator has been incredibly rewarding, and I carry those experiences and relationships into this next chapter with immense gratitude. I am eager to serve our district at a broader level and work alongside our incredible campus teams to help every student thrive.”

Clifford earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Eastern Michigan University and a Master of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington.

She will join the team of area superintendents including Paul Johnson, Jessica Schock and Terri Osborne, Ed.D.
