Leander ISD is proud to announce Tamara Shifrin as the next principal of Steiner Ranch Elementary School. The Board of Trustees approved her hiring at Monday’s meeting.

“Tamara has already demonstrated a deep commitment to the students, staff, and families of Steiner Ranch Elementary, and we are thrilled to see her step into the role of principal,” said Leander ISD Superintendent Chris Clark, Ed.D. “Her strong relationships, knowledge of the campus, and commitment to excellence position her well to honor the traditions and culture that make Steiner Ranch special while leading the school into its next chapter of success.”

Shifrin has served as the assistant principal of Steiner Ranch Elementary since 2022. In this role, she has supported instruction, campus operations and student services, led behavior intervention planning and strengthened the campus’ system of academic and behavioral supports. She has also worked closely with teachers through coaching and feedback and mentored new assistant principals.

Shifrin began her career in Leander ISD in 2016 as a Social Communication Supports & Services (SCSS) teacher at Steiner Ranch Elementary, where she provided academic and behavioral support for students and worked with teachers to support students in general education settings. During her time at Steiner Ranch, she also has helped lead campus improvement efforts and participated in district leadership initiatives, including the Prospective Principal Program in 2025-26.

“I am deeply honored to continue serving the students, staff, and families of Steiner Ranch Elementary,” Shifrin said. “Every day in our building is an opportunity to spark curiosity, grow leaders, and foster a love of learning. This school community holds a very special place in my heart and I am committed to ensuring that every single child who walks through our doors feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their highest potential. I’m so excited to preserve the heart and spirit of SRE while creating new opportunities for our Stallions to achieve great things!”

Shifrin earned a Bachelor of Science in applied learning and development and a Master of Education in autism and developmental disabilities from The University of Texas at Austin.
