Board Adopts Tax Rate, Calls Nov. 3 School Funding Election
🎬 4.A. Public Hearing on the 2026-27 Tax Rate
🎬 8.A.2. Consider All Matters Incident and Related to Calling a Special Election Ratifying a Voter-Approval Tax Rate
🎬 8.B.1. Consider Approval of an Ordinance Adopting the 2026 Property Tax Rate
After holding a public hearing, Trustees adopted the district’s 2026 property tax rate as part of the annual budget and tax-rate adoption process.
The adopted total tax rate is $1.1169 per $100 valuation, including $0.7869 for Maintenance & Operations (M&O) and $0.3300 for Interest & Sinking (I&S). Because the adopted rate exceeds the district’s calculated voter-approval rate of $1.0869, the Board also called a Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE) for Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026.
The election asks voters to consider adding three pennies to the district’s M&O tax rate, which funds day-to-day operations such as staff pay, programs and student services.
If approved, the three additional pennies would provide Leander ISD with approximately $6.7 million in additional revenue after state recapture.
For a home with LISD’s 2026 average taxable value of $460,292, the passing of the School Funding Election would result in an estimated annual district tax bill of $5,141. Compared to last year, the average homeowner would pay $27.56 more per year or $2.30 per month.
For more information about what led to the election, projected taxpayer impact and how the additional revenue would support district operations, read the full school funding election update.
