Leander ISD is delighted to announce Sarah Elbers as the next principal of Camacho Elementary School. The Board of Trustees approved her hiring at Monday’s meeting.
“Sarah is a relationship-centered leader who builds trust, develops strong teams, and creates a positive culture where students and staff can thrive,” said Leander ISD Superintendent Chris Clark, Ed.D. “Her commitment to listening, learning, and building strong connections will honor Camacho’s foundation and ensure every student grows, excels, and leads with purpose. We are confident that under her leadership, Camacho Elementary will provide an exceptional experience for every student.”
Elbers currently serves as an assistant principal at Round Rock High School, where she has strengthened instruction, developed systems to support a 3,800-student campus and led efforts to build teacher capacity. Before joining Round Rock HS, Elbers served as an assistant principal at Herrington Elementary from 2023 to 2024.
She began her teaching career in 2012 at Elsa England Elementary, where she taught kindergarten before moving to 2nd, 4th and, ultimately, 5th grade, and later served in teacher leadership roles. As a teacher, she led instructional interventions, supported emergent bilingual students, mentored early career teachers and helped develop professional learning for colleagues. She also was selected for and completed the Round Rock ISD Aspiring Principals Cohort.
“I am so excited to join the Camacho Elementary community and begin contributing to the joy that makes this campus special,” Elbers said. “I look forward to working alongside the students, staff and families who make Camacho such a wonderful place, as we continue to foster a deep sense of belonging and create opportunities for every student to grow, thrive and reach their full potential.”
Elbers earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Texas State University and a Master of Education in administration from Lamar University.
