During the month of March, #1LISD is celebrating National Athletic Training Month. In an effort to recognize the essential role athletic trainers provide, we are highlighting the excellence of one student-athletic trainer from each high school.

Emily Lindsey, GHS senior

Modeling leadership and relationship, we’re proud to recognize Emily Lindsey as Leander ISD Student-Athletic Trainer of the Week!

At Glenn High School, the senior supports the football, volleyball, basketball and softball programs for the last 4 years. On top of her work in Sports Medicine, Emily participates as a member of the PALS (Peer Assistance & Leadership) program at Glenn High School.

“Emily has stepped up as a leader in our program over the last two years and has been great with our underclassmen,” Glenn High School Athletic Trainer Jason Allen said. “Dependable and hard-working, she makes time intentionally for our program in her busy schedule.”

Vandegrift High School

Going all out, Leander ISD Student-Athletic Trainer of the Week Nadia Vasquez makes an extraordinary effort to support athletes!

For the past four years, the Vandegrift High School senior supports the football, volleyball and boys and girls soccer programs. When it comes to other extracurriculars, Nadia joined the Art Club. Academically, she takes two advanced courses. Plus, Nadia works two jobs outside of school!

“Nadia is always willing to help in anything needed in the training room,” Vandegrift High School Athletic Trainer Linda Bowman said. “She goes above and beyond to ensure that the athletes she works with are always taken care of.”
