Leander ISD is proud to announce Anna Armstrong, from Rouse High School, as the Leander ISD Student-Athlete of the Week.
Anna is a senior captain on the Lady Raider Girls Basketball team. Last season, Anna was voted by her teammates to receive the Raider Award, which goes to a young person that leads by example, in competition and in the classroom, and a person that is of strong character and work ethic.
Besides setting high expectations on the basketball court, Anna also sets high expectations for herself in the classroom. She has been successful in AP courses and ACC Dual Credit classes, and is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Spanish Honor Society.
With her busy schedule, Anna still finds time to give back to her school and community. Through the basketball program, she has participated in Trunk or Treat, collected toys and items for Dell Children’s Hospital, and more. Anna also helped organize and participated in Shattered Dreams at Rouse. In addition, every Wednesday she works with the Leander Lazers where she helps players develop basketball and athletic-based skills through drills in practice, cheering them on from the sideline.
“Anna sincerely cares for people and takes a genuine interest in those around her,” Head Girls Basketball Coach Lori McDonald said. “What I love most about Anna is that she is a good person; she’s real, she accepts responsibility, and she stays true her beliefs and to herself.”
Congratulations to Anna Armstrong from Rouse High School, the Leander ISD Student-Athlete of the Week.
