Leander ISD is pleased to welcome Dustin Binnicker, Ed.D., as the assistant superintendent of advanced academics and pathways after the Board approved the hiring Thursday night.
“We are thrilled that Dustin Binnicker will be joining our team as assistant superintendent of advanced academics and pathways,” said Superintendent Bruce Gearing, Ed.D. “Dustin’s strong knowledge of pathways, his commitment to stakeholder partnerships, and his ability to connect with staff at all levels will be invaluable as we advance our district. His passion, devotion, and positivity will make a significant impact on many students and staff throughout LISD, and we are excited for his influence and leadership to resonate throughout our entire system.”
Binnicker comes to LISD from Waxahachie ISD where he served as assistant superintendent of learning, a role he’s had since 2023. He joined WISD in 2019 and also worked as the director of career and technical education (CTE) and the executive director of curriculum and instruction. He began his career in education in Round Rock ISD in 2009, spending seven years as an educator and another two years as a CTE academy specialist. Before education, Binnicker spent 10 years in the corporate world as both a production control planner and a logistics supervisor.
“I am excited to be joining Leander ISD as the assistant superintendent of advanced academics and pathways,” Binnicker said. “I am thrilled about the opportunity to lead initiatives that will ensure our students have meaningful learning experiences and are well-prepared for success after high school. I am thankful to Dr. Gearing and the board of trustees for their trust in me, and I am looking forward to working with the staff, schools, and the community to create innovative partnerships and equip our students with the skills they need for a successful future. Leander ISD has a strong history of academic achievement, and I am proud to be joining #1LISD.”
Binnicker earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Park University in Missouri and a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Texas at Arlington. Most recently in 2022, he successfully completed the educational doctorate program at the University of Texas at Austin, receiving his Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership.
Binnicker replaces Chrysta Carlin, who departed LISD this summer for a role in Pflugerville ISD.
