She’s making headlines with her heart of gold! We’re celebrating Career and Technical Education (CTE) Student of the Week Averie Varnell.
Local ABC-affiliate KVUE News featured Averie as an Our Future award winner. One of her teachers Amy Kranz nominated her.
“Averie is one of those students who go out of their way to serve others,” Kranz said. She teaches Family & Consumer Sciences. “Whether it’s working with young students with special needs in a structured learning environment or her desire to make a difference.”
As a Vista Ridge High School junior, her school life focuses intently on a future in education. Averie participates in the Ready, Set, Teach! program, which gives her the chance to learn more about careers in education. As an intern, she works with students one-on-one. In addition, Averie is a member of Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) and Peer Assistance & Leadership (PALs). She mentions in KVUE’s feature she wants to become a special education teacher, working specifically with autistic students.
