Layla Caruthers from Leander Middle School is the Leander ISD Student-Athlete of the Week.
Layla is a 7th grade member of the Tiger cross country and volleyball teams. In the spring, she plans on trying out for the basketball and soccer teams, as well as participating in track and field.
“Layla is truly special; not only is she one of our hardest workers, but she consistently has a happy, positive attitude, celebrates the success of others and has a passion for sports that is contagious,” Leander Middle School’s Girls Athletic Coordinator and Coach Amanda Ellerbee said. “She is a PE Pal as well and shows such great leadership with our ICAP students and in the classroom where she excels at literally every subject. Her teachers think she is a gem and we do, too!”
Layla manages to find time to participate in Advanced Theatre, National Junior Honor Society, Quest/PACE math and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Layla is also a member of PE PALS in the Unified PE class.
