Both the Vandegrift High School and Vista Ridge High School Marching Bands are headed to the UIL State Marching Band Competition after competing in the UIL Area H Marching Contest held at Gupton Stadium Saturday, Oct. 21.

The area contest consisted of two rounds, with 21 bands competing in prelims, 10 bands advancing to finals and the top 4 finalist bands advancing to the UIL State Marching Band Contest. Vandegrift placed 1st in prelims and was named UIL Area H Champion by placing 1st in finals; Vista Ridge placed 2nd in prelims and 2nd in finals. 

Both bands will compete at The Alamodome October 30-31. The State Prelims are on Monday, Oct. 30, and will consist of 43 band from across the state. The top 14 bands from prelims will perform in the State Finals on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
