LISD Students Attend PTA Rally Day at Texas Capitol

Leander ISD students took their voices to Austin for PTA Rally Day, joining parents, educators and fellow public education supporters.

Among them was Rouse High School senior Mayank Bharadwaj, who represented the district in the student caucus, sharing insights on the importance of student advocacy.

Later in the day, the group gathered for a rally on the south steps of the Capitol, where students and PTA members from across Texas heard from PTA leaders and proponents of public education.

After lunch, students had the opportunity to tour the Capitol building, gaining a firsthand look at the legislative process. Adding to the learning-filled day was meeting with a handful of state legislators representing LISD, including Rep. Caroline Harris-Davila, Rep. John Bucy, Rep. Vikki Goodwin, and the chief of staff from Rep. Terry Wilsonโ€™s office, Jeff Frazier. These discussions allowed students to share their perspectives on education issues and gain valuable insight into how policy decisions are made.

Leander ISDโ€™s participation in PTA Rally Day underscored the districtโ€™s commitment to empowering students as leaders. Through their engagement, students demonstrated the power of civic involvement and the importance of making their voices heard in shaping the future of education.
