The School and Community Relations department gained a passionate storyteller as its new leader after Crestina Hardie was approved as the new Chief Communications Officer by the Leander ISD Board of Trustees at Thursday’s meeting.
“Crestina Hardie brings experience, passion, energy and enthusiasm to her new role as Chief Communications Officer,” said Superintendent Bruce Gearing, Ed.D. “As a leader in television media, she learned to manage the fast pace and intensity of live production. Her skills as an independent videographer and media contractor, coupled with her experience in the SCR department in LISD, have primed her for this new role.”
“I am thrilled to welcome her to our cabinet team,” Gearing added, “and I look forward to working side-by-side with her as we continue to provide the level of excellence our #1LISD community expects.”
Hardie currently serves as the communications specialist in the district, a role she’s had since 2020. Before coming to Leander ISD, she was a founding partner of Red Speck Media, a video production company. Prior to that, Hardie spent almost 15 years in the news business climbing the ranks from reporter to anchor to news manager.
“I am humbled to serve as chief communications officer in our district with its reputable foundation and inspiring future,” Hardie said. “Through actively listening and seeking to understand, I look forward to telling #1LISD’s remarkable story: one that puts students at the heart of its decisions. The privilege is all mine.”
Hardie received a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, with a concentration in broadcast news, from The University of Texas at Austin.
