Wiley Middle School Principal Angela Hodges steps into a district leadership position as an Area Superintendent. In her new role, Hodges will provide organizational and relational support for campuses and school administrators. The Leander ISD Board of Trustees approved the recommendation during Thursday night’s meeting.
“Angela is a kind and caring leader that works collaboratively with every stakeholder to meet the needs of her students and staff,” Superintendent Bruce Gearing, Ed.D., said. “As a strong instructional leader, she has continuously moved each campus forward to focus on and cultivate every student.”
Leading at Wiley since 2020, Hodges came to the middle school after serving as principal at Steiner Ranch Elementary. Over the past few years, she has served on various continuous improvement committees, including Student Learning Objective, the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force, and Graduate Profile among others. Before coming to Leander ISD, she spent five years in neighboring Pflugerville ISD, where she ascended from an administrative intern to principal at Windermere Elementary. Hodges established her roots in education, spending several years as an elementary education teacher in Baton Rouge and Pflugerville, respectively.
“Leander ISD is an incredible district, and I am thrilled to be able to serve our instructional leaders, staff, families and community as an area superintendent,” Hodges said. “It is an honor to have the opportunity to support the excellent systems and staff that make LISD the truly special district that it is.”
Hodges earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Louisiana State University. While teaching at Brookhollow Elementary in Pflugerville ISD, she graduated with a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Joining Area Superintendents Sarah Grissom and Christine Simpson, Hodges will replace Laurelyn Arterbury, Ed.D., who recently became district chief of staff. Hodges will remain in her position as principal of Wiley MS until the new leader of that campus is in place.
Directora de Secundaria de Leander ISD seleccionada para ser nueva Superintendente de Área
La directora de la Escuela Secundaria Wiley Angela Hodges pasa ahora a una posición de liderazgo para el distrito en su nuevo rol de Superintendente de Área. En su nuevo rol, Hodges brindará apoyo organizacional y de liderazgo para las escuelas y administradores escolares. La Junta Directiva de Leander ISD aprobó la recomendación durante la reunión del jueves en la noche.
“Angela es una líder amable y dedicada que trabaja de forma colaborativa con cada persona para cumplir con las necesidades de los estudiantes y el personal”, dijo el Superintendente Bruce Gearing, Ed.D. “Ella es una líder pedagógica sólida y de manera continua ha avanzado cada escuela enfocándose en cultivar a cada estudiante”.
Ella ha liderado a Wiley desde el año 2020, Hodges llegó a secundaria luego de haber sido directora en la escuela primaria Steiner Ranch. En años anteriores ella sirvió en varios comités de mejoramiento, incluyendo el Objetivo de Aprendizaje de los Estudiantes, el comité orientador de Diversidad, Equidad e Inclusión y el Perfil del Graduado entre otros. Antes de estar en Leander ISD ella trabajó cinco años en Pflugerville ISD donde ascendió de posición administrativa interna a ser la directora de la escuela primaria Windermere. Hodges ha establecido sus raíces en la educación, pasando varios años como maestra de educación primaria en Baton Rouge y Pflugerville respectivamente.
“Leander ISD es un distrito increíble y me emociona poder servir a nuestros líderes de instrucción, talento humano, familias y comunidad desde el rol de Superintendente de Área”, dijo Hodges. “Es un honor tener la oportunidad de apoyar los excelentes sistemas y el personal que hacen de LISD el lugar especial que es este distrito”.
Hodges obtuvo su diploma de pregrado en Educación Primaria de Louisiana State University. Mientras enseñaba en la escuela primaria Brookhollow en Pflugerville ISD, ella obtuvo su grado de maestría en Liderazgo Educativo de University of Texas en Arlington.
Al unirse al equipo de Superintendentes de Área, Sarah Grissom y Christine Simpson, Hodges reemplazará a Laurelyn Arterbury, Ed.D. quien recientemente ocupó el cargo de Jefe de Personal del Distrito. Hodges permanecerá en su cargo de directora de la escuela secundaria Wiley hasta que se seleccione un nuevo líder para la escuela.
