Leander ISD would like to congratulate Vandegrift High School’s Elizabeth Widener on being named the LISD Fine Arts Student of the Week.

Elizabeth, a senior standout in the VHS choir program, has been a member of the Varsity Women’s Choir, Varsity Mixed Choir and the highly selective VHS Chamber Choir for the last two years. During this time, Elizabeth has acted as a leader in many ensembles, helping each choir achieve UIL Sweepstakes Awards in 2017 and 2018.

Elizabeth is a two-year member of the TMEA All State Mixed Choir. In 2018 she received 1st chair in the Soprano 2 section and in 2019 she was awarded 2nd chair Soprano 2.

This March, Elizabeth will perform with the Vandegrift HS Chorale Women’s Choir at the National American Choral Directors Association Convention in Kansas City, MO. This national recognition has only been awarded to one high school in the history of Leander ISD.

Elizabeth is planning to pursue a Vocal Performance degree after high school. Recently she was accepted and awarded a scholarship to the prestigious Boston Conservatory at Berklee. She also has plans to audition at Baylor University and the University of North Texas in the coming months.

“Elizabeth is a talented, motivated learner and performer,” VHS Head Choir Director Michael Zook said. “She has already accomplished so much, and with her tireless work ethic, there is no limit on how far she can go. It is not often when talent, and humility, and kindness all meet, but they do with Elizabeth!”

Congratulations to Vandegrift senior Elizabeth Widener, the LISD Fine Arts Student of the Week.
