We want to give our public access and the opportunity to speak during our Aug. 26 Board of Trustees meeting in a safe and secure environment. We will be moving our check-in process for the meeting to the outside of the LEO Conference Center in order to maintain capacity limits in the lobby and the meeting room.
To maintain the proper decorum during tonight’s meeting, please note the following from Board Policy BED (Legal) and applicable penal code:
DISRUPTION: It is a criminal offense for a person, with intent to prevent or disrupt a lawful meeting, to substantially obstruct or interfere with the ordinary conduct of a meeting by physical action or verbal utterance and thereby curtail the exercise of others’ First Amendment rights. Penal Code 42.05; Morehead v. State, 807 S.W. 2d 577 (Tex. Cr. App. 1991)
This is a business meeting of the Board of Trustees. Please help us maintain decorum with no outbursts, verbal demonstrations, or interacting with speakers. If, after at least one warning from the presiding officer, any individual continues to disrupt the meeting by his or her words or actions, the presiding officer may request assistance from law enforcement officials to have the individual removed from the meeting.
The public may access this meeting via live stream on YouTube. Please note, this link will not be active until approximately 5 minutes before the scheduled meeting time. The meeting agenda and presentation materials are available in Board Book.
Specific Protocols and Procedures for the meeting:
- Due to health and safety concerns related to the COVID-19 coronavirus, we strongly recommend attendees wear a mask over the nose and mouth.
- Capacity limits of 8 in the lobby and 61 in the room, including the public and staff required to run the meeting.
- Hand sanitizer will be available in the lobby.
Citizen Comments
Citizens wishing to address the Board of Trustees may do so in person. In order to address the Board, individuals must sign up between 4:30 and 6:00 PM on the day of the meeting. Individuals are encouraged to sign up online. We will have hardcopy sign-up forms will be between 5:30 and 6:00 PM.
The Citizen Comments portion of the meeting is the only time during which the public may address the Board and is limited to those who have properly signed up to speak. Speakers, please recall you are speaking to the board and not to the audience.
Those signed up to speak during Citizen Comments, who do not have a seat in the boardroom, will be asked to wait outside or in the MPR of LEO.
