Parents can have a positive impact on their students’ education and schools. Kimber Gilbert, a parent at Bagdad Elementary, stays connected through volunteerism and can often be found on campus before, during and after school, lending her expertise in any area it is needed.
“No matter what I ask of her, Kimber does it, and does it well!” said Bagdad principal Christine Hilbun.
From helping shelve books to processing new ones, she gets it done. During Book Fair weeks she assists by brainstorming ideas, setting up materials and decorations, helping students find good books throughout the week and restocking new items that come in. With a boundless supply of energy, she will even dress up along with the campus librarian to help build the excitement with the students.
Her reliability has made her an asset to the campus community. Because of her sincere desire to help make Bagdad the best it can be for all students, Leander ISD recognizes this remarkable individual as Volunteer of the Week.
