They say teaching is a work of heart. That phrase couldn’t be truer for former Pleasant Hill Elementary teacher Francine Erickson who continues to impart knowledge to young students. Integrating her passion for gardening and education, she teaches students life-long skills through gardening lessons, organizes the garden club, and has grown the school’s student garden tenfold.
“Francine’s knowledge and expertise, plus her love for educators and learning, is evident in all that she does. We are so grateful to have her volunteering with us at Pleasant Hill,” said principal Heather Robbins.
Erickson is also the mastermind behind the annual Healthy Husky Night, which brings the PHE community together for a night of Fun and Healthy lifestyles education. Actively involved in Pleasant Hill’s Parent Teacher Association, she works with the executive board to ensure that school events are successful and fun for PHE families. Because of her unwavering commitment in going the extra mile in service to students, Leander ISD recognizes this remarkable individual as Volunteer of the Week
