We have been working with our state and local public safety contacts regarding a national social media trend calling for students to make fake threats on December 17. The law enforcement agencies we work with are aware and we do not have concerns for safety and security. The original social media post on Tik Tok originated in a different state and region of the country. 

There is no mention of Leander ISD or any school in this national social media post. 

Anytime we receive information concerning the safety of students, we investigate the information thoroughly.  We outlined our security protocols in a message to LISD families last week.

Please take this opportunity to remind your student(s) that it is never appropriate to make verbal and/or written threats or to even jokingly comment about threatening the safety of another student, a school employee, or school property, as these types of misconduct are taken seriously.

We appreciate your partnership and understanding, and we will continue to keep you informed as the situation warrants. The safety and security of our students, teachers and staff is, and will always be, our top priority at Leander ISD.

EL DISTRITO SE ASOCIA CON LAS AUTORIDADES LOCALES PARA MONITOREAR RED TIKTOK NACIONALΒ 

Hemos estado trabajando con las autoridades locales en un esfuerzo de monitoreo de una posible tendencia nacional en redes sociales que estΓ‘ llamando a estudiantes a hacer amenazas falsas el 17 de diciembre. Las autoridades estΓ‘n enteradas y en el momento no existen preocupaciones de seguridad y bienestar. Esta tendencia de amenaza surgiΓ³ en la aplicaciΓ³n TikTok en otro estado y regiΓ³n del paΓ­s.

En la publicaciΓ³n nacional no se menciona a LISD ni a ninguna escuela en particular.

Cada vez que recibimos un reporte de incidente se actΓΊa de inmediato en la investigaciΓ³n de cada uno de estos hechos potenciales. AsΓ­ lo explican nuestros protocolos de seguridad.

Por favor hablen con sus estudiantes de la importancia de no usar mensajes de redes sociales que empujan a crear amenazas verbales o escritas o a poner en riesgo la seguridad de estudiante o empleados, ni siquiera en broma. Estas malas conductas se toman seriamente.
