Leander ISD is sporting some new wheels thanks to a generous donation from the Texas PTA. The donation, totaling $218,000, was presented to the Leander ISD Transportation Department in August. The funds will help support the district’s initiatives to be cost-effective and environmentally friendly by enabling the purchase of two new propane school buses.

“As a Texas PTA Board of Directors member, I was proud to present a $218,000 check to Leander ISD for two new propane school buses under the Clean School Bus Program,” said Stephanie Holdren, director-at-large of the organization. “These buses will enhance the safety and reliability of student transportation. I encourage everyone in our community to join a local PTA in LISD to support the PTA’s mission of making every child’s potential a reality.”

The donation allows the district to purchase the new buses for a small percentage of the normal cost. Tracie Franco, Leander ISD director of transportation, highlighted the impact of the donation.

“These new buses are able to provide the most up-to-date technology in school bus safety for our precious cargo, allowing us to provide the most efficient and safest mode of transportation for our future leaders,” Franco said. “Our daily goal, besides safety, is to provide the best customer service to our community and do our part to help students be prepared for anything.”
