Fifth grader David “D.J.” Rogers at Akin Elementary School is the Leander ISD Super Kid of the Week!

D.J.’s teacher, Shiidon Hawley, said that a new student joined the classroom just after Thanksgiving break, and she asked D.J. if he could work with the student on math pre-assessments. He spent a lot of time and effort working with the student.

“The SESS teacher who was there to observe the student was nearly in tears when she explained to me how amazing D.J. was in helping the student get acclimated to the math and our school in general,” Hawley said. “D.J. is a selfless helper to his classmates. He goes out of his way to be of assistance to his peers. He works selflessly and without ego. He personifies the Ethical Principles of Leander ISD.”

D.J. was named the USA Track & Field National Junior Olympic Champion in the 10u boys long jump this past summer.
