We are celebrating the end of an educational era for our graduating seniors in every way we can. Having chosen two Student-Athletes of the Week, we want to recognize their dedication and tireless work ethic. Both Cedar Park High School seniors Tiras Pie and Reagan Hillis have shown remarkable ability in athletics and academics as our Leander ISD Student-Athletes of the Week!

Student-Athlete of the Week: Tiras Pie

Tiras is a senior member of the Timberwolf Cross Country and Track and Field teams. Tiras devotes nearly all this time to running, yet he still maintains a 3.9 GPA. Named to the Academic All-State Track and Cross Country teams, Tiras has also managed to be an active member of the National Honor Society and the National English Honor Society. As if that wasn’t enough, Tiras is also a debate team officer!

Tiras is one of the most dedicated athletes I’ve ever had the privilege of coaching,” CPHS cross country coach Chance Edwards said. “His dedication wasn’t limited to practices, but extended to his teammates as well. The efforts he exhibited in workouts helped take the entire team to the next level.”

“He is a very resilient athlete, who worked through struggles as a junior.  Tiras came back his senior year and excelled to what ended up being his best year yet. He finished the track season sitting with the fourth fastest time in the Region in the 1600m with a time of 4:29. ”

Tiras will be continuing his running career at the academically prestigious college of Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

Student-Athlete of the Week: Reagan Hillis

A uniquely-talented individual, Reagan has excelled on the Timberwolf softball and track teams for her entire high school career! A four-year starter in softball, she received both All-District and Academic All-District honors for the three years leading up to this unfinished senior year.  Concurrently, Reagan competed in track where she represented CPHS in the Regional Finals as a junior. While pouring all this time and energy into two high school sports, Reagan has also somehow devoted time to Spanish Club and Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) as well!

“In today’s Texas 5A high schools, Reagan is a rarity, as a dual-sport athlete,” CPHS head softball coach Cami Jenschke said. “Her two sports practice and compete at the same time, which makes this accomplishment that much more impressive and admirable!”

Reagan will complete her track workouts alone before school, staying after school for softball, running to track to work relay exchanges and then coming back to wrap up softball practice.

“I have coached over 20 years and have rarely had the privilege of coaching an athlete as talented as she.  To complement her athleticism, and work ethic, Reagan has an endearing personality – she is fun and funny, she is respectful of her coaches, her teammates and her competitors.  Reagan Hillis is the complete package of a student athlete; she has been a blessing to coach.”

Reagan will be continuing her softball career at Odessa Junior College.

Congratulations to Tiras Pie and Reagan Hillis, Leander ISD Student-Athletes of the Week!
