Leander ISD is proud to announce Vandegrift High School’s Matthew Sanders as the Leander ISD Student-Athlete of the Week.
Matthew is a senior captain of the Vandegrift Viper varsity football team and also competesn the Viper varsity wrestling team.
Matthew has earned numerous awards, including Academic All-District and All-District Offensive Lineman. As a varsity wrestler, he qualified for the regional wrestling tournament, while maintaining all A’s in the classroom.
In addition to a busy athletic schedule, Matthew serves on the Football Leadership Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Young Men’s Service League and National Honor Society.
“Matthew is one of the hardest working kids I’ve ever coached,” Vandegrift Offensive Coordinator Blake Mouser said. “He is here every day and gives his best effort day in and day out. His success on and off the field is due to his continuous hard work and dedication.”
