With a breakaway finish, Annie Burton takes the podium as Leander ISD Student-Athlete of the Week!

As a sophomore at Vandegrift High School, Annie runs on the Viper cross country and track and field teams. In races this year, Annie consistently finished in the top three. At the District 25-6A meet, she placed second. During the Region IV-6A meet, she finished sixth, helping her team claim the Regional championship and advance to the State championship! Academically, Annie is a straight-A student who pushes herself by taking six upper-level courses. She has a goal of being inducted into National Honor Society soon.

“Whether it’s during a workout, in a classroom, or at a race, Annie consistently performs at the top of her game,” Vandegrift HS Cross Country Head Coach Colin Sully said. “Her sixth-place finish at Regionals was thrilling. We’re so proud of how she helped the girls’ team defend their 6A Region IV Championship!”

She’s going the distance! High fives all around for LISD Student-Athlete of the Week Annie Burton!
