Leander ISD Athletics is honored to name Vandegrift High School sophomore Anthony Monte as LISD’s Student-Athlete of the Week.

Monte, a standout cross country and track athlete, made history Nov. 4 as the first VHS runner to compete at the Class 6A state meet.

“Anthony has consistently led his team all season in practices and in meets,” Head Cross Country Coach Collin Sully said. “He is never intimidated by tough workouts or competition. I can always rely on him to perform to the best of his ability.”

Monte also participates in CyperPatriots, a program designed to inspire students to engage in careers related to cyber security, science and technology.

Anthony Monte showcases what it means to be a true standout in the classroom and in competition. Leander ISD Athletics is proud to name him as Student-Athlete of the Week.
