A player on the field to a fan in the stands. Rouse High School Senior Alex Valerio is scoring goals in so many ways as LISD’s Student-Athlete of the Week.
Alex exemplifies leadership as a senior member and captain on the Lady Raider Soccer team. Her Raider pride bleeds into other school sports as a member of the spirit club Rockin’ Raiders. Her passion for blazing trails shows in her participation in two mentorship programs–Peer Assistance/Leadership (PALS) and the Amazing Raider Club–as well as serving on the Principal Student Advisory Committee.
“She is often the first to show up and last to leave practice,” Rouse Lady Raider Head Soccer Coach Katie Marek said. Marek has coached Alex for the last five years, watching her mature from an eighth-grader to a senior.
“She gives a voice to athletes that haven’t found theirs yet, positive and encouraging to everyone no matter their skill level.”
